The Arsenal u18s have been missing one of their top talents so far this year, with Marcelo Flores yet to play a single minute for the academy in 2021. He’s been recovering from a fairly minor injury, but Arsenal are being cautious easing him back into the action.

Flores confirmed on his Instagram story this week that he’s now finally back in training, writing that he’s “happy to be back on the pitch”.

This will be a boost for the u18s, particularly given their recent tough FA Youth Cup draws. They’ll need their best side available to keep progressing in the competition.

It would also be nice to make a push up the league table, although winning the title is no longer a realistic possibility.

Over the international break, much of the talk around Flores has revolved around off-field speculation. He remains at the centre of a battle between Mexico and Canada for his international allegiance, which resurfaces every time their squads are announced.

I’m sure it will be nice to be back making some headlines for his performances on the pitch as soon as possible.
