Mesut Özil doesn’t plan to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window, believing he’ll be able to sign for a top club in the summer.

Earlier today, we covered reports coming from Turkey suggesting Mesut Özil was likely to join Fenerbahce in January. We expressed reservations about the rumour for various reasons, and it seems even less probable in the wake of the Mirror’s latest update.

The English outlet claim Özil has ‘made it clear’ he plans to remain at Arsenal through the January transfer window. He wants to stay and fight for his place, before collecting his loyalty bonuses and incentives at the end of the season.

The Mirror then list a bunch of options for the 32-year-old in the summer, but seemingly without actual inside information on any of them. They just say he “could” go here or there, and various clubs “could” be interested in him.

Basically, it seems like nothing is even close to being close in the Özil saga. He’s likely to stay at the club until the summer, before assessing his options at that point.
