Christian Eriksen has been offered to Arsenal for less than the £16.9m Inter Milan paid Spurs in January, and he could be available for just £12m.
ESPN report that Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Christian Eriksen, with Inter Milan willing to cut their losses on the player after just 10 months. Spurs aren’t looking to bring him back, but the player would consider a move to the Emirates instead.
ESPN’s sources claim he could join for as little as £12m, adding that this would appeal to Arsenal on their modest budget. But there are doubts about whether his style suits Mikel Arteta’s.
The player could also go elsewhere, with AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund listed among his potential next clubs.
At first, the Eriksen-to-Arsenal rumour emerged as a potential swap deal involving Granit Xhaka. However, it subsequently became clear Xhaka wasn’t particularly interested in that move, seemingly killing the prospect.
If Eriksen’s available for such a low price, that opens things up again. Still, I’d personally consider this an outside bet at best, with Arsenal surely needing to look at the long-term a bit more in their current situation.
Eriksen is 28, which isn’t too old for this season or the next, but if we’re building for three or four years’ time he’s clearly not the best option.
