Calciomercato.it report that Granit Xhaka is showing a reluctance to a move to Inter Milan in the January window. The Serie A club are also likely to struggle to afford his current salary, so they’re starting to look at other midfield transfer options instead.

Recent reports in the Italian media suggested the possibility of a swap deal between Arsenal and Inter Milan for Granit Xhaka and Christian Eriksen. However, if Xhaka doesn’t want the move, the deal falls down at the first hurdle.

There’s certainly a strong suggestion Eriksen isn’t particularly happy with Inter at the moment, and he’d welcome a return to the Premier League – despite only leaving it this year.

The midfielder is only up to 15 starts in 33 appearances for the club so far, with little suggestion that’s changing anytime soon. In the league this season, he’s only made three appearances lasting more than a half and none lasting more than 65 minutes.

It seems unlikely the 28-year-old will end up at Arsenal. With a swap deal off the table, the Gunners are unlikely to spend big money on him either.
