Arsenal academy striker Folarin Balogun started for the England u20s against Wales on Tuesday, providing a first-half assist for Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey. The young side ended up winning the match 2-0, with former Gunner Xavier Amaechi also scoring.

Tyreece John-Jules, on loan at Doncaster Rovers this season, also got a call-up for the current break. Unfortunately, he ended up missing out on the game with an injury.

Twitter user @generat1onal reported a day before the game that John-Jules would miss out, later confirming to us that the striker pulled his quadricep in training over the weekend.

Doncaster Rovers fans will hope the injury is nothing serious, given John-Jules has played all but 12 minutes of their season since joining. He has a goal and an assist in their last three league games.

As for Balogun, it’s a positive sign that he’s getting back involved with the goals on international duty, even if this one was an assist.

With speculation around his future appearing to distract him, Balogun only had one assist and no goals from Arsenal’s first four PL2 games of the season. He did score in the EFL Trophy match against Ipswich before the PL2 got underway, but that’s it so far.

Hopefully, he finds his form again now the window is shut. He missed the game against Crawley Town tonight, given he’s still away with England.
