AC Milan are joining the race for Lucas Torreira, making an enquiry with Arsenal and the player’s representatives over a summer transfer.

Di Marzio report that AC Milan made an enquiry for Lucas Torreira recently. The player wants to return to Serie A, and he’s also drawing interest from Fiorentina.

Francesco Porzio adds that Milan contacted Torreira’s agents in the last few hours. Torino remain the favourites to sign him, however, ahead of Milan and Fiorentina.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Arsenal are working to sell the midfielder this summer. At that stage, they only had loan offers, which isn’t ideal. The Gunners were hoping for a permanent sale to raise funds for potential incomings.

It’s not clear whether Milan are looking for a loan or a permanent signing, but Arsenal will hope for the latter.

Now, those of you following the transfer market closely may have noticed a possible sequence of moves here.

Milan want Torreira, whilst Lyon are trying to sign Milan midfielder Paqueta – but can’t afford it yet. Perhaps they could afford the deal if they sold Houssem Aouar to Arsenal, giving Milan the funds to sign Torreira.

It’s just a theory right now, particularly whilst Torino are still the favourites for Torreira. But it’s not totally unreasonable. Arsenal, Milan and Lyon could all get a player they want without a huge net outlay.
