Arsenal are working to sell Lucas Torreira in the current transfer window, but they only have loan offers from interested clubs at the moment.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are currently working to sell Lucas Torreira and Sead Kolasinac this window. However, he goes on to add that Torreira only has loan offers on the table as things stand.
Earlier this week, Sky Sports reported that Arsenal were in talks with Torino over a loan move for Torreira. The loan would contain an option to make the move permanent in two instalments totalling £22m.
Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim Torino are the favourites for the deal, and Arsenal want €24m for a permanent sale. But, like Romano, they add that the Serie A side are only making a loan offer at the moment.
The Italian outlet report that Torino want a paid loan with a purchase option active based on certain conditions. These would include appearances, goals, assists, national call-ups and even qualification to the Europa League.
Depending on the outcome of each clause, Torino would pay more or less for the transfer.
That doesn’t sound to me like a deal Arsenal would want to accept. A loan deal instead of a permanent transfer is already less than ideal. Add in a huge amount of uncertainty about the fee and if they’ll even get one, and it doesn’t look very appealing.
But if they’re only getting loan offers and have to offload Torreira to make room for a new signing, they may need to find some kind of compromise.
