Arsenal have reportedly agreed to a two-year deal, with an option for a third, for Willian whom the media have been insisting would only sign a three-year deal somewhere.

Chelsea don’t want Willian to leave and have offered the 31-year-old a two-year deal as he turns 32 on Sunday and they have a stricter over-30s policy than most clubs.

Arsenal were said to be in the running because they had offered Willian a three-year deal but on Wednesday, Le10Sport reported a two-year deal had been agreed and the British papers ran with that without mentioning what had went before.

Le10Sport say that the deal is all agreed, not even the usual ‘personal terms’ have to be sorted out. It’s all done according to the French publication, which builds on reports from earlier in the week that claimed Willian had chosen Arsenal.

Perhaps Chelsea were only offering him a 1 + 1 deal, but you would think it would have been reported that way. All we heard was that Chelsea were offering Willian two years and Willian absolutely, positively wanted three.

Of course, the key here is that if Willian moves for free he gets a nice fat bonus as does his agent, Kia Joorabchian, who is also trying to get Philip Coutinho to the club as well as Diego Carlos.
