Kieran Tierney unsettled some Arsenal teammates with his commitment in training earlier this season, but Mikel Arteta is a fan.
ESPN report that Kieran Tierney ’caused some awkward moments’ in training during his early days at Arsenal. The left-back is a believer in training as he’d play, but teammates urged him to tone down the forceful nature of his sessions.
When Mikel Arteta took the Arsenal job, however, that all changed. The new head coach is much more of a fan of Tierney’s aggressive approach.
There are certainly no doubts that Arteta likes the player on the pitch. Despite returning from a shoulder injury recently, Tierney has started six of Arsenal’s seven post-restart matches. He even featured from the bench in the seventh.
If the Scotland international is ready and available to start, he does. Considering the strength of his performances, that’s not likely to change anytime soon.
Obviously fans are going to love to hear about a new signing coming in and shaking up the attitudes at Arsenal. There’s long been a sense that many players are a bit too comfortable, and that has to change.
Under Arteta, and with players like Tierney in the squad, it looks like it will.
