The Telegraph claim Arsenal will offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a £250,000-a-week contract in the coming days, plus bonuses. They’re just putting the final touches on the offer before presenting it in the coming days.

The outlet claim the financial side isn’t enough on its own, however. He wants silverware and European football, which Arsenal could still achieve with an FA Cup final victory. Then he wants the club to convince him they’ll back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.

All of that is fairly reasonable. He’s already seen two chances for trophies slipping through his fingers, in the form of the League Cup and Europa League finals. He had his own part to play in that, failing to score in either match, but Arsenal lost badly on both occasions.

European football is a big part of any player’s career, and Aubameyang will only enjoy playing for Arsenal with a good team around him. So it all makes sense.

As fans, I think we’re all just as keen as Aubameyang to see Arsenal win the final and invest. Ideally, he’ll then sign a new deal and we can move on to other concerns.
