Mohamed Elneny will not be a Besiktas player for much longer after they lost 2-1 at home to Antalyaspor.

Elneny started the game on Saturday and was booked for this foul on Arsenal fan favourite Lukas Podolski.

Speaking after the match, Besiktas’s coach, Sergen Yalçın, said, “We are planning the next season [and who] we will continue with.”

The Turkish publication, Millyet, then added a list of names, saying, “Rebocho, Diaby and Elneny, who play for the black and white, will go. Upcoming offers for Ljajic, Vida, Douglas and Lens will be evaluated. The next season [Besiktas] will continue with economic names.”

How quickly things can change in just a month or two.

Elneny’s loan with Besiktas has not been a fun one for the Egyptian.

He was sent off on is debut, wanted to leave after only a few months and then got in to a pay dispute which saw him threaten not to play again for the side.

Although they were said to still be in ‘deadlock’ over the issue at the start of June, Elneny did not follow through with his threat.

About a week ago, it was reported that Elneny wanted to return to Arsenal because of the pay issue, and with another two years left on his current contract, he doesn’t actually have to go anywhere.

At the start of May, however, it was reported that Mikel Arteta sees no future for Elneny at Arsenal so he should probably ask his agent to start looking again.
