Sky Sports report that Arsenal confirmed they’re in contact with the players over breaches of the lockdown rules. Online photos and/or videos of each of them showed their transgressions.

Pepe was playing football in his garden, but he appeared to have friends over with him. Xhaka and Luiz met up in a public park together in Southgate. Lacazette spoke to a car valeter on his driveway.

It’s worth noting that in Pepe’s case, we aren’t actually sure if this is a breach. He was still in his home, and it’s very possible his friends have actually moved in with him.

They’ve been at his house on many occasions through lockdown, based on Instagram. So either they’re breaking the rules a lot or they’re staying with him and it’s all fine. Arsenal will know the answer to that better than we do, so they can deal with it.

For Xhaka and Luiz, there’s no excuse. They shouldn’t be meeting up, and they certainly shouldn’t be broadcasting their meeting to imply to the general public that it’s okay. Same goes for Lacazette, who should know to keep his distance.

Arsenal players and others across the league need to sort themselves out. The plans to play matches behind closed doors certainly won’t happen if players keep breaking the rules.
