Nwakali joined SD Huesca from Arsenal over the summer, leaving on a permanent deal after three years with the Gunners. He couldn’t play for his new club at first though, as he was waiting on the proper permits and clearance.

Daily Cannon sources have now confirmed Nwakali has his work permit all sorted. He’s in full training with the squad, and Huesca made the decision to keep him around for the rest of the season with the aim of integrating him into the first team.

That’s great news for the midfielder, as he can start a real push for minutes now.

Arsenal fans will want to keep an eye on Nwakali’s progress in the next couple of seasons, as the club have a buy-back option in his contract. The player confirmed as much himself in September.

Despite the wait for chances with Huesca, Nwakali did get the opportunity to play for the Nigeria u23s in November. He scored a free-kick in the Africa Cup of Nations group stage, helping them to a win over Zambia. He also featured in a draw against South Africa.

Unfortunately, Nigeria lost the only game Nwakali didn’t play, and that meant the end of the tournament for them.
