Kelechi Nwakali has confirmed that Arsenal do indeed have a buy-back option in his contract and he is hoping to do enough to convince them to activate it.

Kelechi Nwakali was shipped out this summer when he signed for SD Huesca on a permanent deal. Tipped as a big player for the future, it seemed surprising that Arsenal were letting such a talented youngster leave, but it seems they are happy enough to know they can buy him back if they want to.

Nwakali, for his part, is keen to get back to his Arsenal ‘dream’.

“Arsenal have been my dream team, but one thing is sure, is not late yet, the aim is to just go there and get more playing time because there is a buy-back option in the contract,” Nwakali told Scorenigeria.

Nwakali signed a three-year deal with the Spanish side and, should he play regularly, that should help him obtain an elusive permit to work in the UK, Brexit allowing, of course.

That being said, Nwakali will need to show serious improvement if he wants to reawaken is Arsenal dream. Only one of his three loan spells while he was an Arsenal player seemed to impress and, at 21, he should be starting to deliver more consistently now if that dream is to have any hope of surviving.

Arsenal paid £3.15m for Nwakali in 2016.
