The Mirror report that Arsenal have Dayot Upamecano on their summer hit list, in addition to Carlos Soler as reported previously. They’re starting to plan for the future under Mikel Arteta, and the young centre-back appears one of their priorities.

German outlet Bild write that Arsenal are still in for Upamecano, after their failed €60m offer last summer. According to those claims, Upamecano is actually available for that same price in the upcoming window.

Then again, that doesn’t mean Arsenal will be as willing to pay it. A year later, they may have other alternative targets. They also know Upamecano only has a year left on his deal.

€60m for an immediate fix and a player with a couple of years on his contract made sense in the summer. It’s up for debate whether the deal is worth that now.

Arsenal also face stiff competition for the 21-year-old. FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are reportedly in for him too. It’s not a straightforward transfer by any means.

Currently, Upamecano is playing regularly for RB Leipzig. He’s up to 26 appearances in all competitions, after overcoming a knee injury from last season.
