German outlet Bild report that Arsenal still want Dayot Upamecano after their failed €60m offer last summer.

In the upcoming window, Upamecano is available for a fixed €60m fee, due to a clause in his contract. The Frenchman’s deal expires in 2021 and he is refusing to extend. If Arsenal are still willing to pay up, the transfer sounds simple enough.

On the other hand, the Gunners face competition from FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The draw of trophies and Champions League football is sure to play a part, particularly if Arsenal don’t make any progress on either front between now and May.

Still, Bild claim the Premier League is Upamecano’s ‘dream destination’. That could yet give Arsenal the edge.

Upamecano is having a good season with RB Leipzig, as they sit one point off top of the Bundesliga. He’s up to 24 appearances in all competitions, after overcoming a knee injury from last season.

Unfortunately, we won’t get a chance to see him face off against Premier League opposition in Spurs when the two teams meet next week. Though Upamecano only has five yellow cards this season, three came in the Champions League. He’ll miss the first leg through suspension as a result.
