The rumours of a Granit Xhaka move to Hertha BSC are growing with each day at the moment. On Friday, reports hinted he might return to the Bundesliga. ESPN and Sky were among the sources suggesting he was in talks with Hertha Berlin.

On Sunday, German outlet FussballTransfers suggested Xhaka already has an agreement with Hertha over personal terms.

They wrote that Hertha just needed to reach a deal with Arsenal after making a concrete offer for the midfielder. However, we did point out FussballTransfers aren’t the most well-known and reliable outlet out there.

Now, in Kicker’s print edition (via Manuel Veth) they claim Hertha are ‘closing in’ on the signing. They’re hoping Xhaka will add some much-needed leadership to their side. Along with Bild’s report, this does start to make the move seem more likely.

As of yet, Xhaka’s agent isn’t commenting on the rumours. This isn’t a huge surprise though, after the player’s falling out with the fans and subsequent vague remarks about his future. January is just over a week away now, bringing the transfer window with it.
