Last week, Mavididi’s rumoured move to Benevento appeared to be almost a certainty. Reports suggested the two clubs were working to finalise the final details of the former Gunner’s transfer, with only the sell-on clause preventing it from going through.

Then, Mavididi was named in the Juventus u23 squad to face Novara on Monday, after a few days of the Benevento rumours going quiet. Just when it seemed like he might not be leaving after all, he was promptly pulled out of that u23 squad again.

A few days later, Dijon have confirmed they’ve signed the striker on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. The 21-year-old will take the number nine shirt.

Mavididi made two appearances for Juventus u23s this season before leaving, playing on the left-wing. In both games, he came on for around 35 minutes as a substitute. Out of position and benched by the youth team, it’s no surprise he’d be keen on a loan move.

Good luck to the former Arsenal man with his new challenge, hopefully it will be a big success!
