Mavididi had appeared to be edging closer to a transfer from Juventus to Benevento over the last couple of weeks.

Last Tuesday, reports suggested the two clubs were working to finalise the final details of the former Gunner’s transfer, with only the sell-on clause preventing it from going through. Some outlets claimed major updates were expected on the move imminently.

TuttoJuve then reported on Wednesday that the deal was ‘almost done’, and Benevento wanted the forward to be available for his home debut on August 31st. They also added that Juventus were looking to add a buy-back clause to Mavididi’s contract.

After that, everything went quiet for a few days. The promised updates never arrived, and the deal certainly wasn’t finalised. In fact, Mavididi has now been named in Juventus’ u23 squad to face Novara on Monday at 19:45 BST.

It’s hard to say exactly what the situation is now, without any updates from either side of the deal. Clearly, Juventus expect Mavididi to keep playing for their u23 side for the time being, until a move is made official.

The 21-year-old has made two appearances for his current team this season, playing on the left-wing. In both games, he came on for around 35 minutes as a substitute.
