As reports emerge of Arsenal trying to structure deals to bring Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up to Mesut Ozil-level wages while Manchester United try to shift Alexis Sanchez on, it looks like the German actually earns more than the Chilean as a basic salary.

We all know that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are on ridiculous wages. The Arsenal man earns £350kpw while Alexis is on anywhere between £500k and £600k depending on who you believe.

On the face of it, there is no competition – Manchester United clearly pay Alexis more than Arsenal pay Ozil.

But look a little closer and you will realise that Alexis’ wage is almost 50% bonus-related which he won’t be collecting much of. He ‘only’ receives a basic wage of £300kpw, details of which have emerged as he is linked with a loan move to Inter Milan.

Mesut Ozil’s weekly wage, however, is £350k flat and not dependent on any bonuses.

That’s according to the Telegraph, anyway.
