Arsenal are reportedly confident they can structure a complicated deal that would see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earn as much as Mesut Ozil through the use of bonuses.

Mesut Ozil, as we know, earns £350kpw. Arsenal can’t afford to pay everybody that but an argument can be made that he is not the player who should be earning the most at the club.

Aware of this, but still cash-strapped, Raul Sanllehi has got out his calculator and come up with a deal that would surely make Ivan Gazidis’s bald head explode.

The Telegraph report that both camps are confident a deal can be struck.

Auba is currently on around £200kpw with bonuses on top of that. Ozil’s £350k is fixed.

Much will depend on Arsenal securing Champions League football next season and this will, reportedly, be tied to Aubameyang’s new deal.

Arsenal are also said to be in talks with Alexandre Lacazette over extending his deal too, with the forward after the win over Burnley saying that we’ve yet to see the best of him in the Premier League.
