Update – David Luiz will wear the number 23 shirt after his transfer was finally announced.

Unlike many players, it doesn’t seem like David Luiz is that fussed what shirt number he gets.

When at Benfica, he wore the number 23.

At Chelsea during his first spell is wore the number 4 before changing to 32 at PSG and then to 30 when he returned to Chelsea.

The 4 is, of course, the more prestigious number and it could be made available if Arsenal send Mohamed Elneny on loan to Galatsaray. Don’t even get me started on us giving Elneny the 4 in the first place.

The 23 was Danny Welbeck’s number, but with the forward now at Watford, it is also available.

The 30 is not, however, as that belongs to Eddie Nketiah (although he looks like he’s off on loan to Leeds) but the 32 is as it was last worn by Chuba Akpom.

If Luiz fancies a change altogether, the 6, 12, 13, 19, 22, 23, 33, and 36 are also available.

I’m expecting the vacant #3 to go to Kieran Tierney.
