Brentford announced the deal on Thursday morning after news of his move broke on Wednesday.

Thomas Frank, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “Dominic is a very talented young player and over the past two years the speed of his development has increased. He is a technically very good left back or left wing back. He can pass the ball well and deliver good crosses and he also has a very good mentality and wants to defend.

“Dominic is a player that can continue to develop, and all the coaching staff here are looking forward to helping him get to the next level while also competing with Rico Henry for our left wing back position.”

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: “We have been looking to add some strength to our full back options and we hadn’t thought that Dom would become available until the very end of the window. When it became possible to sign him, we closed the deal quickly and we are very pleased that he has chosen to join Brentford in the next phase of his development.”

Thompson played 13 times and a total of 695 minutes last season in Premier League 2 for Arsenal.

Many had hoped that Thompson’s move to Brentford would allow them to sell Rico Henry to Celtic, allowing Kieran Tierney to move to Arsenal.

Neil Lennon, however, said his side weren’t interested in Henry and Tierney looks to have moved to Arsenal regardless of his club bringing in a second left back to replace him.
