Celtic have signed Rapid Vienna left-back Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo for £3m, a player who is widely regarded as a replacement for Kieran Tierney.

That doesn’t mean that Kieran Tierney is headed to Arsenal, however. But, at the time of writing, the Scottish champions have only received one bid – £15m from Arsenal.

Despite reports from David Ornstein that Napoli were ‘edging ahead’ in the race to sign Tierney from Celtic this summer, some Italian outlets are saying precisely the opposite.

Calcio Napoli 24 report that sources close to the player himself have confirmed Napoli’s interest, but insist that Arsenal are still closest to a deal. Di Marzio reporter Fabrizio Romano claims talks are ongoing with the Gunners.

Daily Record claimed on Wednesday that Napoli’s interest has pushed Arsenal to get the deal done more urgently. They believe a deal can be done for £22m and plan to submit a new bid within 48 hours (24 hours at the time of posting this article).

While The Sunday Post claimed that Arsenal looked to be winning the fight with Napoli and are planning a £20m bid with £5m add-ons to match Celtic’s valuation.
