Arsenal are expected to return with a third bid for Kieran Tierney after their second bid, which was supposedly what Celtic wanted, was turned down.

Celtic's highly-rated left-back Kieran Tierney has committed his future to the Bhoys amid interest from Arsenal.

Arsenal initially bid £15m for Kieran Tierney, which was rejected.

It was then claimed that Celtic wanted £25m for him so that was Arsenal’s next offer.

That wasn’t good enough, either.

However, in the i’s report about a potential third bid they claim Celtic’s valuation IS £25m.

So what is the problem?

Well, it seems that Arsenal tied a lot of the £25m fee to add-ons which means Tierney would need to hit certain targets for Celtic to get their cash.

It’s hardly surprising, then, that they aren’t best pleased.

Arsenal, as we know, had around £40m to spend this summer and they’ve so far amassed a net spend of around £1m.

They received just under £5m for David Ospina from Napoli while they have spent £6m on Gabriel Martinelli, who scored on his debut against the Colorado Rapids in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

That leaves Arsenal £39m or so to buy players for practically every position.

Meanwhile, Celtic have Tierney tied to a contract until 2023 and are under no pressure whatsoever to sell with the player unwilling to agitate for a move.

The Herald, meanwhile, are reporting that Unai Emery has ‘personally intervened’ to insist that Arsenal up their offer to secure his signature.
