Arsenal’s Viktoria Schnaderbeck has been named Austrian Player of the Year despite missing a large part of the season with a knee injury.
Schnaderbeck joined Arsenal last summer from Bayern Munich but picked up a knee injury in August. She only returned to action in the 4-0 win over Bristol City last Thursday.
Arsenal never mentioned what her injury was but we’ve now learned that it was a problem with the cartilage in her knee that was causing her problems.
“Thank you for the award,” Viki said when picking up this latest award in Vienna-Studio 44. “I am glad, that I may enjoy this Moment in the circle of my family and closest friends.
“As I sat at home with 4: 0 against Bristol in the bank, it was great to be in the team.
“I’m still not at 100 percent. But it runs very, very positive.“
Schnaderbeck started the Arsenal game on the bench where she remained for the full 90.
