Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury, which could now put his participation in Arsenal’s Europa League quarter-final clash in doubt.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Saturday that Insigne had to pull out of Napoli’s recent training session due to a problem with the adductor of the right thigh. It was the same issue which had prevented him from taking part in their last Europa League match against Salzburg.

The Italian outlet speculated that the injury setback comes as a result of Napoli trying to rush Insigne back, and they add that he’ll certainly miss their next match against AS Roma. After that, he’ll be evaluated to see whether he can feature in the first leg of the quarter-final against Arsenal in 12 days’ time.

Losing Insigne would be a big blow to Napoli, as the forward has 13 goals and seven assists this season. That includes the winner in a 1-0 against Liverpool back in the Champions League group stages, before the Serie A side dropped down to the Europa League.

Unfortunately, 12 days could well be enough time for the 27-year-old to recover, so we’ll just have to wait and see how things go.
