Amid embarrassing videos on social media of Arsenal fans abusing their own players, one supporter reminded everyone of how to conduct yourself on an away trip with a classy tribute to Emiliano Sala.

After Arsenal’s defeat to Rennes on Thursday, a number of supporters embarrassed themselves by abusing the players as they arrived at the airport to return to London. It was a needless and self-defeating display of attention seeking under the guise of pretending to care about the club.

Meanwhile, one Arsenal fan was reminding everyone of how you should act when you’re representing your club in a foreign country. Richard (@afc_richard on Twitter) travelled home via Nantes, and he took the opportunity to visit their football stadium and pay tribute to the late Emiliano Sala.

These are the sorts of images we should be seeing more often after European away matches. Going abroad to follow your team is an opportunity to experience a different culture, to meet fans of a new club and to represent your team on a worldwide stage.

You can show respect for the supporters and players who share your love of the sport around the globe, or you can become the laughing stock of those same countries. Let’s hope for more fans like Richard in the future.
