Arsenal are reportedly ‘thinking’ about making a move for AC Milan’s Suso and are the only club interested in him at present.

In a report on the site Calciomercato, which is mostly concerned about discussing the player’s worrying lack of form since November, they also mention Arsenal’s interest.

They write that Milan have been taking their time over renewing Suso’s contract for a few reasons. Firstly, because they haven’t received any substantial offers for the player and that ‘only Arsenal is thinking about him’.

Next, they claim he wants €5m-a-year in any new deal. That works out around £82kpw, a salary that would certainly be agreeable to Arsenal.

The story around Suso has been relatively quiet for a few weeks. Back in the middle of February, it was claimed that Arsenal met with Suso’s ‘entourage’. Claims were also made that the Italians were ‘in no mood’ to offer him a new deal. Spurs were also said to be considering offering €40m for him.

For the record, the €40m that Spurs are allegedly ready to offer happens to be the amount of Suso’s release clause, something Gazidis is supposed to be negotiating upwards in any new deal.

The 25-year-old winger is also, apparently, reluctant to move after the birth of his first child.

Suso is a relatively new addition to the Arsenal rumour mill.

He has 23 Serie A appearances this season with five goals and eight assists. He is under contract until 2022.
