Arsenal will not be able to bring Mark Overmars to the club until the summer as he has no intention of leaving Ajax mid-season however they are also eyeing up a move for Monchi who worked well with Unai Emery at Sevilla.

Arsenal are on the hunt for a Director of Football, a role Sven Mislintat thought was his until Ivan Gazidis chased the money all the way to Milan.

Since then, things have changed somewhat although no-one is really all that sure how, why or what is going to happen next.

The two main names in the frame for the DoF job are Mark Overmars, said to be the favourite favourite, and Monchi said to be the preferred favourite.

Huh?

Yeah, that’s what the papers are saying. Overmars is the favourite to join but Monchi is the one they really want. Apparently. Clear? Good.

Arsenal have reportedly met with both but are keen to bring Monhci in because of his previous working relationship with Emery.

Monchi spent 17 years at Sevilla and would be the more experienced recruit of the pair so that means we will most likely end up with Overmars.
