According to an exclusive from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Monchi is considering an exit from his current club, as the Roma fans are starting to blame him for their poor season. The supporters are unhappy with the club’s summer transfer dealings and the results that have followed so far.

As things stand, Roma sit seventh in Serie A, they’ve just exited the Coppa Italia with an embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina and they scraped through to the knockout stages of the Champions League after three wins and three defeats. According to Calciomercato, Arsenal and Manchester United are on alert if Monchi does decide to leave.

Il Tempo (via Sport Witness) give a slightly different version of events. They say Monchi wants to stay but is starting to feel like he ‘doesn’t deserve’ to be in the job. The conclusion is roughly the same, that if things keep going badly, the director could be on the way out to Arsenal.

The latest updates come after David Ornstein told Arseblog he’d heard unconfirmed reports that the director could be set to reunite with Unai Emery in North London. The two worked together previously with Sevilla. We’ll see how things progress between now and the summer.
