Chuba Akpom scored the winning goal for PAOK against AE Larissa last weekend, as he continues to push for starts with his new club.

Akpom came off the bench with just under 25 minutes to go in the Greek Super League clash, with the scores level at 1-1. A few minutes later he scored what turned out to be the winning goal, stabbing home from close range after some good movement between the Larissa defenders.

You could see what the goal meant to him, as the former Gunners jumped the advertising hoardings and grabbed at his shirt as he ran towards the fans. It looks like he knows he’s in a battle for chances at the moment. Watch the highlights below:

Akpom is yet to start a game in the league for PAOK this season, but he’s scored two winning goals in his last three substitute appearances. You’d think a chance in the league starting lineup has to be on the horizon.

The only game the Englishman has started this season was in the Greek Cup. He didn’t score or assist, but PAOK did win the match 2-1.

After the game, Akpom told NOVA (via All Nigeria Soccer): “It was a very moving moment. I wanted to go in to play and to score was what I wanted.

“As I have said before, I want to grab the opportunity every time. This is my goal. We do not look at the other teams and the lead we have, we look at PAOK, our team.”
