Lucas Torreira scored a bicycle kick to win Arsenal all three points against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, as Unai Emery’s side managed to grind out a 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

This game was more notable for its penalty appeals, injuries and yellow or red card offences than for decent chances.

Both sides struggled to create anything at all, mostly because they spent so much time injuring, fouling and diving. That’s according to the referee, at least, who was keen to stop the game and issue cards for simulation at every opportunity.

Thankfully, Arsenal’s newest hero Lucas Torreira popped up in the final minutes to win the game. Let’s have a look at our individual player ratings for the match:

4Substitutes

Alex Iwobi 6

Iwobi and Mkhitaryan came on at half-time to help Arsenal find the opening goal, but arguably neither quite had the desired impact on the game. They both struggled to hold onto the ball, with Iwobi’s pass accuracy at just 63% and Mkhitaryan’s at 68%, and the Nigerian international was also dispossessed a game-high three times.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 6

As above, but Mkhitaryan did at least manage to get a couple of shots off, and didn’t lose the ball quite as much.

Nacho Monreal 7

It was great to see Nacho back, even though it did have to be a centre-back. Given the Spaniard’s talent for finding goals and assists in recent times, it would’ve been nice to see him pushing forward on the left, but needs must. After a solid 45 minutes, let’s hope Monreal is ready for a probable start next weekend.
