Arsenal have left Cohen Bramall out of their 45-man Europa League squad, to make way for 2018 signings Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Arsenal released their 45-man squad for the competition this week, after the group stage draw took place last Friday. The Europa League allows a 25-player main squad list, plus a B list of 20 youth players who have been with the club for at least two years.

The Premier League squad regulations are a little different, with their ‘B list’ equivalent only requiring that players be under 21 years of age. As a result, Guendouzi and Mavropanos are eligible for the PL’s u21 list, but not the Europa League B list.

Adding the pair to the 24 senior members in the Premier League squad brings the total to 26, meaning someone has to be left out. Unfortunately for Bramall, he’s the player they’ve excluded.

It’s a bit damning for the youngster, because Arsenal have plenty of injury problems at left-back right now. Meanwhile all the goalkeepers are fit and healthy, yet fourth choice Deyan Iliev makes the Europa League list.

Then again, Bramall did pick up an injury in his last youth game, so perhaps that’s more serious than we thought. We’ll have to wait for updates.
