Caglar Soyuncu has submitted a transfer request to leave SC Freiburg, as he attempts to push through a move to the Premier League.

Turkish-Football confirm that Soyuncu has submitted the request to leave, with his club willing to sell, as long as it’s for the right price. The player’s preferred destination is the Premier League, and the Turkish outlet think a move is ‘likely’. However, as this stage there’s still no agreement over a transfer.

The Turkish-Football report adds that the recent Soyuncu quotes about wanting to join Arsenal are false. They write that a source close to the player says he does want a Premier League move, but didn’t mention Arsenal specifically. The defender’s agent also refused to rule out a move to La Liga.

Nonetheless, Soyuncu’s representative told the media there were ‘concrete talks’ with Arsenal. He also added that Sven Mislintat is a long term admirer of the player. From the looks of things, the Gunners are still the favourites.

Soyuncu is currently on holiday, but returns for pre-season training next week. The same is true for the Arsenal players not participating in the World Cup. You’d think Arsenal and the player himself would want to get the situation resolved before then, but we’ll have to wait and see.
