Arsenal have reportedly ‘arranged everything’ with Zeljko Buvac, Jurgen Klopp’s assistant who dramatically quit this week, and he is expected to take over from Arsene Wenger this summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of managers but, for one reason or another, the list is starting to shrink as the club hone in on their ideal candidate to replace Arsene Wenger.

Thomas Tuchel has already been ruled out as he heads for PSG. Luis Enrique’s wages and ‘self-obsession’ has reportedly ruled him out of the running as well.

Next up, Shakhtar’s Fonseca, who reportedly rejected a move to Everton in order to wait for the Arsenal job.

The 45-year-old was appointed manager of the Ukrainian side two years ago and since then has averaged 2.42 points per game.

He won the league and cup double in 2016/17, his first season with the club. They are currently three points clear at the top of the table this season, too.

Perhaps even more impressively, his side are making great strides in Europe.

They finished runners-up to Manchester City in the group stage, beating Guardiola’s side 2-1 at home.

Then they won against AS Roma in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie, but ended up going out.

Fonseca also spent a year managing Braga and FC Porto earlier in his career, winning the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup with the two teams respectively.
