Arsenal are reportedly ‘confident’ of landing Massimiliano Allegri this summer according to an Exclusive in the Daily Star which contradicts everything else we’ve been reading since Arsene Wenger announced his decision to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

Allegri is the favourite for many fans, but it seemed as if the Gunners had missed their chance to land the Italian.

The Daily Telegraph even went so far as to say that Arsenal were not interested in hiring any Italians, which I noted at the time seemed like an very odd claim.

From Tuchel to Ancelotti to Capello to Vieira, Henry, Arteta, Simeone, Jardim, Nagelsmann and Rangnick, the Arsenal short list seems to grow by the day.

A report in the German publication, Morgenpost, on Tuesday seemed to think that Ralf Rangnick was set to leave RB Leipzig for Arsenal as they discussed who would replace him.

AS in Spain claim that the Gunners are moving towards Shakhtar Donetsk’s Paulo Fonseca.

Now, we have the Star claiming that Arsenal are confident of landing Allegri.

I’d love to believe this, I really would. If I could pick any manager, he’d be my choice, but it seems very clear at this point that none of the papers have any clue what Arsenal are up to.

How much we can rely on the Daily Star on this story is hard to say. They have a very poor reputation in general when it comes to gossip but a decent track record with Arsenal stuff due to close ties with the club through their former, now deceased, editor.
