Arsenal slumped to a humiliating League Cup final defeat on Sunday, losing 3-0 to Manchester City, and there was hardly a single positive individual performance of note.

Arsenal just weren’t good enough against Pep Guardiola’s treble-hopefuls, individually or as a team.

Here are our player ratings:

Mesut Özil 2.5

This was the kind of performance the English media tell us Özil puts in every week. He didn’t create any chances apart from the early square for Aubameyang which Kyle Walker cut out. He didn’t have any shots, and his passing was no more than average.

A rare off day for the German right when Arsenal needed him.

Jack Wilshere 3

Wilshere did some nice things early on, and won a lot of free-kicks. He seemed to lose his handle on the game as City got further into the lead, and ended up in fights with their players and receiving a yellow card for sarcastically clapping the referee.

He was better on the ball than against Östersund, but arguably just as disappointing off it.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 3

It’s extremely difficult to judge Aubameyang in this team, because just like Lacazette before him, he can’t get involved.

He had one shot all game, and cut an isolated figure up front.
