Arsenal slumped to a humiliating League Cup final defeat on Sunday, losing 3-0 to Manchester City, and there was hardly a single positive individual performance of note.

Arsenal just weren’t good enough against Pep Guardiola’s treble-hopefuls, individually or as a team.

Here are our player ratings:

Granit Xhaka 2.5

We’re used to Xhaka’s trademark wayward passes by now, and he was still pulling those off just as regularly as usual. What was particularly disappointing on the day was his set piece delivery.

The midfielder has a few assists this season from corners and free kicks (including one at Wembley in August). However, this time around he missed the entire group of Arsenal players on multiple occasions.

If he continues like that, I can’t see any reason why Özil shouldn’t take over entirely from now on.

Aaron Ramsey 3

Though there were a couple of nice moments, Ramsey generally looked like he wasn’t ready for a game of this intensity. Just returning from injury, the Welshman never looked at his best, and completed a lower percentage of his passes than any other outfield player from either team.

He didn’t create any chances and had just one shot in a subdued performance, before his 73rd minute substitution.
