The Daily Mail are featuring the image of a crying Arsenal child, taken from the TV coverage of Sunday’s final, to stick the boot in further.

While nearly all Arsenal fans are aware how bad their side are at present and were more than prepared for the onslaught of media criticism this morning – most of which they agree with – it’s hard to find anything acceptable with this approach from the Daily Mail.

Many might, rightly, point to the picture of the young crying Spurs fan that Arsenal fans have laughed at for quite some time – but this isn’t some random fans on Twitter. Image uploaded from iOS 2

This is one of the biggest, and most hateful, publications in the world splashing a child’s upset face all over a full page.

As of November, 2017, the Daily Mail had a circulation of 1.3m.

It could be argued that they’ve used the image to accompany Gary Neville’s quotes which he delivered in a quite spectacular tirade during the match, but there were plenty of others they could have used – his quotes about Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey jogging instead of running, for instance.

There was absolutely no need to use this image of this young chap and the Mail should be ashamed of themselves.

Then again, that’s just an ordinary day for that rag, isn’t it?
