Henrikh Mkhitaryan is an Arsenal player, according to reports.

All being well, Mkhitaryan will be officially announced as an Arsenal player soon.

According to the Guardian, the Armenian was discussing the final details of his move on Saturday and no problems were expected. Then followed a report that the deal had been agreed.

The information that a deal was done was then given the David Ornstein seal of approval as he tweeted on Saturday evening that the deal was complete that would see Mkhitaryan arrive at Arsenal with Alexis going the other way.

Contrary to reports all week, no cash is involved – it is a straight swap.

There were concerns that the midfielder’s agent, Mino Raiola, would hold up the deal to ensure his client got a big contract.

However, it now seems that will not, thankfully, be an issue.

Both Alexis Sanchez and Mkhitaryan were left out of their respective squads for the weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

Alexis was set to be included in the Arsenal matchday squad for the game against Palace but some have speculated that this was simply a ruse to get United/Alexis/his agent to hurry up and get the deal done.

If it was, it appears to have worked.

Wenger confirmed that Alexis missed the game against Palace because he was “travelling up north”.

“Expect soon or never,” said Mourinho after his side’s win at Burnley.

Mkhitaryan is expected to become Arsenal’s highest earner.

Arsenal will be hopeful of getting the deal finalised and registered well in time for  Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea.
