Alexandre Lacazette says he’s already getting along very well with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil on and off the pitch, but he expects the relationships to get even better.

When the trio have started matches together, it’s generally been very good news for the Gunners. In the five matches they’ve started, they have eight goals and seven assists combined. That’s an average of one goal contribution per game each.

Lacazette talked to the Arsenal club website about how they’ve built their relationship together:

“I already get on very well with them in every day life,” Alexandre said. “On the pitch, we’ve gotten to a point where we understand one another better, better than at the beginning. We learn more every day. But we already know how the other likes to play so it’s easier for us.

“The coach puts all three of us together or puts us into pairs. Then, I’m the one who has to get to know them more, rather than them as they’ve been playing together for quite a few years.

“It takes time to adapt. It will take days, weeks, maybe months, I don’t know. But, it’s not a problem, but I know that in time we’ll get on even better.”

The three players have already had a few months together to adapt, and it doesn’t seem like they need much longer based on their performances so far. However, if Alexandre really does believe that they can improve, they’re running out of time to do so.

Mesut and Alexis both have contracts expiring at the end of the year, and there have been rumours about both players leaving in January. For now, there’s been nothing concrete confirmed either way, but as each December day passes without a new contract agreement it starts to look more likely that they could be on the way out.

I hope we’ll at least get to see the three players sticking together until the end of the season, because the team needs their goals to get back in the Champions League places, as well as to have any chance of a trophy at the end of the campaign.
