Besiktas have been promised talks with Mesut Ozil, according to reports. The Turkish club could soon enter the race for the playmaker whose contract expires in the summer.

According to Fanatik, they have been promised by Ozil’s representatives that talks will happen in January, when Ozil is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.

Ozil has admitted in the past that he’d be open to a move to Turkey and has also been linked with Fenerbahce.

Manchester United have also been reported as interested in signing Ozil once his contract expires. Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have been mentioned as potential destinations as well.

The German midfielder’s future looks to be away from Arsenal as no progress has been made on agreeing a contract extension. He missed Germany’s final two World Cup qualifiers while he recovered from a knee injury picked up before the Chelsea game in September.

His only Arsenal appearance since then was a brief cameo off the bench during the 2-0 win over West Brom. He missed the games against BATE Borisov and Brighton, but is expected to be fit in time for Arsenal’s trip to Watford on Saturday.
