Arsenal and Manchester City are said to be considering swapping Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero again.
It’s all getting a bit desperate now, isn’t it?
This farce of a swap deal was mooted earlier in the summer and just when we all thought it had died the death it deserved, the Express have gone and brought it up again.
The story goes that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City want to sign Alexis so badly that they’d be willing to let Sergio Aguero go to Arsenal to make it happen.
Apparently City fear Aguero would become unhappy if the 28-year-old arrived and took his playing time, so they’d solve that problem by sending him to Arsenal. Classic ‘killing two birds with one stone’ scenario.
In reality, there have been no significant developments on Alexis’ future and tabloids are desperately still trying to milk the saga for all it’s worth. The contract rebel has returned to training and is preparing with the team ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield against Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger had made it clear countless times that he will not be sold. It’s so far so good on that front. All that’s left now is to endure the remaining four weeks of the transfer window.
