Arsenal won the Emirates Cup despite losing to Sevilla thanks to the five goals the bagged on Saturday against Benfica.

It’s pretty much sevens for everybody. It was that sort of game, Arsenal weren’t great but they weren’t total garbage either.

There were certainly a number of concerns raised – like will the midfield be more solid by next week – but how did the players get on individually?

With my fuzzy screen and his blonde highlights, I kept thinking that the player doing most of the running was Aaron Ramsey was actually Mesut Ozil. In fairness, it was probably both.

Danny Welbeck 7

Looked brilliant in the first half. Full of energy, running, skills, tricks, speed and vision. Missed in a quite typical Welbz way, poking the ball straight in front of him. He also grabbed another ‘dummy’ assist. He’s really good at those.

Will 17/18 be the season we finally see the best of Danny?

Alexandre Lacazette 7

Being greeted with cried of ‘shooooot’ every time he got the ball, the commentators accused him of trying to do too much and needing to be a bit more selfish. The latter more than the former shows a total lack of understanding of Lacazette as a player. Yes, he’s a goalscorer, but he is a smart team player who will take a better option if a teammate is more likely to score.

Still, this wasn’t the best showcase of his true range of talents, but hopefully they won’t be so shy next week against Chelsea, providing the injury he picked up was a simple knock. His movement seemed limited but that is perhaps not surprising as he tries to work out what his teammates are likely to do next.

And he still managed to score…so….
