Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend even more money this summer on Martins and Carvalho. In fact, Arsene Wenger is apparently ready to splash €80m (£70m) on the pair, according to Portuguese outlet, Abola.
Sporting winger Martins has five years left on his current deal and made 32 Liga NOS appearances last season, scoring six and assisting an impressive 14.
The 22-year-old was linked with Arsenal and Manchester United back in January but a move never materialised.
Carvalho, on the other hand, has been linked with a move to north London for several years.
The 25-year-old, who could be a solid replacement for the out-of-favour Francis Coquelin, made 43 appearances over all competitions last season and was rated the 16th best player in Liga NOS by Squawka.
The defensive midfielder has three years left on his current deal with Sporting.
Manchester City have also been linked with Carvalho.
