The former Arsenal target is reportedly on Manchester City’s radar after he hired a new agent – Pep Guardiola’s brother, Pere.
Sporting apparently need the money and are asking for £35m (€40m) but, according to Portuguese outlet, Record [via Sport Witness], they’re waiting until after the Confederations Cup to make their move.
Portugal face Chile in the tournament’s first semi-final clash on 28 June. However, if they make the final, City could be waiting until after 2 July.
Arsenal were thought to be signing Carvalho has a replacement for the out-of-favour Francis Coquelin. However, the links have fizzled out recently.
Carvalho has three years left on his deal with Sporting.
The 25-year-old made 43 appearances over all competitions last season.
