Former Arsenal midfielder Kim Kallstrom has been speaking about Kylian Mbappe.

  • Mbappe is an Arsenal target
  • Kallstrom spent six months on loan at Arsenal in 2014
  • He says what Mbappe does is “unheard of”

Kallstrom spent six months on loan at Arsenal in 2014, though he’s remembered more for the circumstances behind his arrival than for what he did on the pitch.

Just moments after signing on loan, it was revealed that Kallstrom had a fracture in his back and would miss three months of his loan spell. Arsenal knew beforehand, but went ahead with the signing anyway.

The Swede, at least, scored a penalty in the shootout against Wigan in the FA Cup semi-final, and has spoken very positively of his time at Arsenal.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Kallstrom was asked what he thought about Arsenal-target Kylian Mbappe.

“Inevitably, he’s also talked about in Sweden. What he does at his age is unheard of!” he said.

“It breaks all sorts of records. What’s even more impressive is that, at 18, he’s so composed. He plays his matches, scores his goals, then says goodbye.

“For me, it’s difficult for a Swede to play abroad. But if you’re French, you’re already playing at a high level. It’s an advantage. France is a factory of footballers.”

Mbappe is the most wanted player in Europe currently and reportedly met with Monaco yesterday about his future.
