Carla Humphrey has been called up for the training camp that will take place on the 18th and 19th January at St Georges Park.
The u20 squad is open for girls born in 1996 and later. The FA is organising an international u20 tournament from the 1st to 7th of June in preparation for the FIFA u20 World Cup to be played in Papua New Guinea from the 13th November to the 3rd December.
Sweden have been invited, as well as two other teams that have not been disclosed.
England u20 failed to qualify for that World Cup as they finished bottom in the group stage of the u19 Euro finals in July last year. They needed to finish in the top two places to qualify for the Worldwide tournament.
France, Sweden, Germany and Spain will be the UEFA representative in Papua New Guinea.
Although it was never made official, there is suspicion that Arsenal Ladies did not release Carla Humphrey and Leah Williamson for the Euro finals and it certainly did not help the England team.
Carla was one of the leading forwards in that generation and Leah captained the side in the Elite round, scoring the decisive penalty against Norway to send England through in a bizarre fashion.
The finals were played between the 15th and 27th July 2015 and the two players would have potentially missed the following games: Liverpool, Birmingham and Notts County in the League as well as Watford and London Bees in the Continental Cup.
It is a shame that both young girls missed crucial part of their development at international level as well as a possible World Cup as it is a priceless experience that would have helped them to prepare for senior tournament football.
Unfortunately, the first team squad was down the bare bones at the time and the girls missed out on international football.
