Stan Kroenke wishes to keep Ivan Gazidis at the club despite ongoing friction with Arsene Wenger.

  • American owner is happy with Gazidis’ work at the club
  • Wenger and Gazidis did not see eye-to-eye on direction of the club
  • Wenger set to stay for another two years

In a classic case of having his cake and wanting to eat it as well, Kroenke wants both Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazdis to remain at the club.

Wenger will sign a new two year contract with the club soon amid rumours that Gazidis could resign from his position as CEO.

Gazidis has used the media in recent months to push a desire for structural change at Arsenal, including the hiring of a Director of Football-type figure to assist the manager.

Wenger, however, has been openly dismissive of the idea in his press conferences.

With Wenger set to stay, it remains to be seen if Gazdis’ wish for structural change was granted as well. After claiming this season will be a “catalyst of change”, he will look powerless if something doesn’t change behind the scenes.

Despite the disagreements, Wenger and Gazidis put on a public front of unity as Arsenal lifted the FA Cup for the 13th time last Saturday.
